Situation

A Space That Says “We Love Kids”

Newlife, a vibrant people-focused church in Silverdale, Washington, approached our team with a clear and heartfelt vision: to refresh their existing spaces, especially their kids’ areas, in a way that would boldly communicate their love and dedication to families. They also sought to build synergy with the neighboring YMCA, which already served as a key gathering place for the local community. With donations already coming in from their congregation, Newlife wanted a strategic, phased approach that would maximize immediate impact while thoughtfully planning for future expansion.

Solution

Planning for the Future

PlainJoe collaborated with Newlife to imagine a multi-phase design plan that celebrates kids and families while offering practical, scalable improvements. We focused first on reimagining their children’s environments as a welcoming, adventure-filled space. The design includes a two-story adventure zone with climbing towers, ropes, slides, and inclusive play areas tailored for kids of all abilities, including those with physical disabilities or neurodivergence. The sanctuary was also reimagined to focus on expanding seating capacity efficiently, allowing for growth with minimal construction. This balance of thoughtful design and phased execution empowers Newlife to serve their congregation well today while paving the way for their future.

Transformation

Building a Vision with People at the Center

The refreshed environments are designed to reflect Newlife’s heart for families, creating an atmosphere where kids feel celebrated and safe, while parents find opportunities to connect and build community. The new adventure area is planned to be a focal point for family engagement, offering joy and exploration in a space crafted with intention and care. By aligning their vision with thoughtful design, Newlife is staying true to its vision in supporting families, fostering community, and keeping people at the center of what the church truly is.
