Situation

As Bayside Church’s Granite Bay campus continued to expand and influence the community, there was a growing need to transform the church courtyard into a more welcoming and home-like environment. This need reflected the church’s commitment to becoming a central gathering place where visitors and congregants could forge personal connections and feel at ease.

Solution

In response to this need, PlainJoe was tasked with redesigning the courtyard to enhance its accessibility and comfort. The modern redesign introduced a glass atrium with soft seating areas that invite relaxation and conversation. A high vaulted ceiling structure was added, extending the public entry and leading directly into the church, thereby creating an inviting path that draws visitors inside.

The courtyard’s transformation included the creation of an exterior living room space, which was designed to foster personal connections among churchgoers and guests. Additionally, the design plans include a future sports park featuring soccer fields intended for neighborhood leagues, further integrating the church into the community by providing recreational opportunities.

The redesign of the Bayside Church Granite Bay courtyard has significantly enhanced the campus’s role as a community hub. The modern, welcoming design not only makes visitors feel at home but also encourages them to engage more deeply with the church and each other.
